Confirmation and Membership Opportunities in 2017
In 2017, confirmation service will take place on Pentecost Sunday, June 4. New and transferring members are formally accepted on this day. In order to become confirmed or a member. More information is provided as follows:
Confirmation Retreat (for youth in grades 8 and up) - Please contact by February 15 (see contact info below): you are invited to join Louisa Duck, Sunday School and Spiritual Program Coordinator, and Ann Bradley, Youth and Family Programs Coordinator, to explore what it is that we believe as Christians and as members of the United Church of Canada. See Confirmation Retreat dates posted below. What does it mean to be a person of faith? Who are we as a people of faith? How do we live out our faith in the world? This will serve as preparation for Confirmation, whether you are seeking Confirmation this June 4, 2017, or not. Perhaps you wish to explore this opportunity, but are undecided whether you would like to be confirmed. If so, this is for you. If you or someone you know is interested or would like more information, please contact Louisa or Ann by February 15.
Membership: there is also the opportunity to become a member of Bethany, or transfer your membership from another United Church or similar Christian denomination. The process is very straightforward. If you would like to do this, please contact Rev. Kevin Little, our Lead Minister. Further, if you are not a member of any church but would like to become a member of Bethany, Rev. Kevin will find a process for you to learn more about the United Church in general and Bethany United Church in particular. Again, the way to begin the process is to contact Kevin.
There is no need to be confirmed or formally join Bethany to be part of our faith community. All are welcome to attend our services or participate in our many activities. We urge you to contact Rev. Kevin and/or Louisa or Ann, even if you are not yet sure whether you wish to be confirmed or become a member of Bethany. It is important to note, however, that in some instances of decision making (i.e., on important matters facing the church), or to participate in some of the boards and committees within the church, membership is required.
Full contact information for our minister and program coordinators can be found here.
