about the church
I don't know about you, but I tire of church website sites that tell you that their church is everything you ever imagined, a combination of the best party you ever attended, the best speaker you ever heard on Youtube, the most amazing choir you've heard since the...
Every Sunday at Bethany has a chosen theme. The music, the sermon, the prayers, all fit together to lift up a message we feel the community needs today. If you want to know what is coming up at Bethany this Sunday click here.
Bethany has a committed, hard working and fun staff team. Each member of the team complements one another and together they seek to serve you as they serve God with their own unique spiritual gifts.
Every Sunday Kevin preaches a sermon based on a Bible story and the experience of the Spirit in our community. Kevin visits regularly, is involved in the community, and talks to everyone he meets. Here are the texts of these sermons.

Bethany Summer Choir - For the months of July and August Bethany will have a ‘Summer Choir.’ Everyone is invited to sing with this group. We meet on Sunday’s at 10:00 a.m. and learn one or two easy and accessible pieces of music and then present them at the Sunday service (which begins at 10:30 a.m.). I hope you will join us on occasion over the summer. If you have any questions please speak to Shawn, Director of Music (email Shawn or call 9802-455-0521 ext. 223)
Camp Kidston 2017 - The camping season is almost upon us, and in particular, Camp Kidston camping sessions are rapidly filling up! Click here for more information on the 2017 Camp Kidston program.
Transfer Opportunities to Bethany - For adults at Bethany there is the opportunity to transfer your membership from another United Church or similar Christian denomination. The process is very straightforward. If you would like to do this please contact Kevin Little, our Lead Minister. Further, if you are not a member of any church but would like to join Bethany as a member Kevin will find a process for you to learn more about the United Church in general and Bethany in particular. You do not have to be a member to attend services at Bethany or join in our many activities.
Donations for Fall Fair - The Fall Fair is Bethany’s largest fundraiser and we are already off to a great start. The first day of accepting donations in the Fellowship Hall went very well. Our wonderful volunteers were busy sorting through the many treasures. Thank you! Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., we will be accepting donations in the Fellowship Hall. A few small items can also be left on Sundays after church. Please no TV’s, heavy sports equipment, stuffed animals or clothing. We have a couple of exciting additions to our fair this year such as a bouncer and Bricks for Kidz! We also offer, jewelry, home décor, crafts, chowder luncheon, silent auction, flea market, Christmas, electronics, kitchenware, linens, toys, books (no older than 1985), pantry and a BBQ. If you have any questions or comments please contact us. UPDATE: The craft table is accepting "new and finished" craft projects such as knitting, crocheted items, sewing, woodworking, Christmas decorations or any type of handcrafted projects.
Piercey Garden - Donation of plants are still welcomed for the Dr. Doug Piercey Garden. A sign-up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board in the hall, along with plants that are needed. Anyone who would like to volunteer time, to help with the planting, can contact the church office. Thank you to all who have already donated to the garden project.
MacKinnon Chapel - The beautiful and spiritually rich MacKinnon Chapel is available on a "drop-in" basis for prayer, reflection, reading or silence each weekday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Accessible through our Joseph Howe Drive entrance.
